Awesome pics of your dad Doug! Any idea who #42 is? In 1956 #42 qualified with Freddie Agabashian driving and that's not him. In '57 and '58 the #42 DNQed so it's not in my book. No sponser on the car either and I can't make out the drivers name. The crew chiefs name looks like Ollie Prather (sp)? maybe. Anyways, really neat pic of your dad.

Unless things have changed, when I lived in souther california, people were always slowing down to look at wrecks. They were so busy watching wrecks that usually, they'd cause another.

Interesting photo of Fremont Street in Vegas. Hotel Apache became Binion's Horseshoe.

  20. Two things really stand out on these old Accident photo's are how most of the cars look like a pile of kindling!

Also noticed how many people were wearing suits and ties and the women had dresses and stylish hats!

Bad wreck about 15 miles outside Manistee Michigan
My granddad took this picture sometime between 1927 and 1930. What was amazing to me back in the day right after an accident on the open hi-ways the dead and injured were hauled off to the hospital but the wreckage was not cleared away immediately, sometimes the wreckage sat there for weeks.

I tend to think that "it" was more exciting than what was on the 2 channels we had on TV,
either that or we weren't all just a bunch of couch potatoes

Thanks mlight9! I looked in my Kurtis book late last night and you are right. There was no #42 in '57 and '58 so Doug's photo is from '59. Those Kurtis cars sure were beautiful although none had won since Flaherty in '56. A.J. Watson was the new guru.
