I guess I don't understand California license plate dates. Nixon and Lodge ran against Kennedy in 1960 for the Presidency. But the license plates on the car are showing a 1956 date? Were plates good for multiple years at the time?
It's Doris Day.
Being Lola is as far as it went.
No. it's Ginger Rogers. A big Nixon supporter.
Plates are issued with the first year of issue stamped on them.. They continue until they run out or numbers. Then change colors and start over again. Each year a small stick on tag covers the rear plate date stamp. I think by now they may not have a stamped date at all.
WOW!!---------Great hood ornament!!!!!
No....it's Doris Day....the photo was misidentified.
THIS is Ginger Rogers. She lived in the area here.
You are mistaken, the photo IS of Ginger Rogers...& it wasn't "misidentified". Look carefully at your own photos.
From the L.A.Times who originally printed the photo.
REAL SERVICE-Actress Ginger Rogers pastes Nixon-Lodge sticker on automobile of Mrs. John R. Mount as she talks to actor Cesar Romero. less chit chat...More `60 Plymouths
I guess you don't. The yellow plates issued in 56 got annual sticker updates on the rear plate until '63. In 63, all yellow plates were replaced with black ones. There was never a complete replacement of plates again. Stickers are issued every year, blue plates were issued around 70 and white ones around '90. The black, blue, white plates are all valid currently. Recently a bill was passed allowing us to pay an additional $50 to get new black plates. Also, YOM plates are available for classic cars of any year including the old big plates that were issued pre-1956. They all get current year stickers on the rear plate.
