Early in the year before FI, Superchargers and multiple carbs were outlawed. Notice that Chevrolet got a special exemption to use truck 6 lug hubs, brakes and wheels because their stock stuff was junk and couldn't hold to the riggers of racing like the stock Ford, Mopar, and other GM brands.

None of them used stock wheels and hubs back then, except maybe Pontiacs.

5-on-5 with double-thick spider. Stock ‘57 Ford? That hub looks a lot beefier than stock, too.

There they are again. The closest stock wheel I’ve been able to find to this ubiquitous design is early 1950s Cadillac. Maybe there was a Lincoln wheel with a 5-on-5 pattern that could be the source for the center “spider” section. Or possibly some wheel supplier in the overall OEM supply chain.

There they are again on a Petty Plymouth. Stock Plymouths had tapered rear axles in 1962. This one has flanged (probably floating) rear axles.

The Chevrolets were no junkier than the rest, except maybe for Pontiac. And I doubt they were 100% stock, considering safety concerns on the fast, banked tracks.
