Bobby went to Fullerton JR College, his folks had a dry cleaning shop down the road in Anaheim. Bobby was the volcalist in Terry Travaris' band The Variations, Gene Morford ? was on bass, can't remember the other guy that played. The venue was a place on Harbor blvd in Fullerton called The Cove, they played on Monday nights, the place had an all you could eat spaghetti meal for $1.25.Terry's father was an engineer at Fender, I used to clean Mr. Fender's pool using my 1953 Helm's truck. Off duty the panel delivery housed a mattress and a keg of beer on weekends. My other car was a 1956 Corvette, had returned from Bonneville that summer and was trying to put it together for next year between dates and keeping the panel delivery going.

That is pretty much the way I understand this photo. Apparently J.P. was irritated by his crew giving him the "EZ" late in the '49 race. He thought that he could have taken the lead before the rain set in and the race was flagged. In the '50 race, same car, he didn't respond to the coaching, gave the one fingered salute to the crew, and won. The connection is I believe he was a technical advisor on "To Please A Lady" and became well aquatinted with Ms. Stanwyck and Mr. Gable.

There was a Mirak Chevrolet, Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington MA where I took my '37 Chevie sedan for front end work in about 1950.

IIRC the guy in the infield is Wally Mezkowski. Can't remember who is in the car.

  19. Mirak is still in Arlington. They are about 2 miles up from the old location on the opposite side of Mass. Ave. now.
Good place to deal with.............lot of history.

OH man this is awesome! The first one shows a converted Hudson bomber (With the twin tails), an awesome aircraft and the big 'Jetliner' in the lower one is the De Havilland Comet, the worlds first ever purpose built jet passenger aircraft.
(And the worlds first ever jet passenger aircraft to crash!)

And the NEW DC-6 and the Convair? Man the golden years of public air travel.

Note to "kids" or anyone. Take lots of photos and tuck them away. Even right now. They are almost free today and it's neat to look back after even a couple of years. For whatever reason I have always done that and can see where I've been.
The trees in your yard that never seem to grow leap before your eyes. The wife still stops traffic if I check the older photos. And on and on.
Uhhh, no pictures on the couch watching TV--we should either be turning wrenches, helping others or youngsters turn wrenches or tacking on the miles.

Damn straight! There is not a photo in existence of me from the time I left home to the time I left the Army (A few from recruit training, so.... I lied.) I wish I had some of the shit I did on film. These days I point out, I have done that to something on a movie and everyone goes 'Yeah sure!'.
Jumping out of an airplane on oxygen above.................well bloody high! That view on the ramp as the globe curves away, far above cloud level, awesome!
I have pictures of the cars I have owned but none with me in them and again no one believes they were mine! Fuckem.

Take pictures, with you in them. Fuck op-sec.
