FYI, the LeSabre was 1951, not '53. Various features were added and/or changed over the years and like the Y Job, Harley Earl drove it as his personal car. It is really an incredible car.
Milwaukee Wisconsin area Modifieds, ran 5 + nights a week, 50's-60's to 70's. Miles Melius started driving Midgets after WW2 , a champion there, went to stock cars that evolved into the Modifieds, many championships, hundreds of win's and his last year 1967 raced 5 different tracks 5 nights a week, won ALL 5 track championships with car owners Gene and Bill Schwister, Bill a successful driver himself, also their swan song in the Modifieds.
Billy Johnson, like Miles started in Midgets, a champion there, went to the stock cars/ modifieds, several championships, many many wins, raced into 70's. My Dad being a Midget car owner 48-86 was huge modified fan and took me with to watch the races, grew up going to race tracks. The Modifieds put on a Hell of a show, always 50+ cars
Fuzzy Fassbender, same story, Midgets, Modifieds, track championships, many wins. It was Miles the Mouse Melius chased by Billy the Cat Johnson chased by Fuzzy the Hound Fassbender. All the drivers had nicknames. I have so many good memories watching these cars run, many great drivers involved.
