Probably married 50 years!
I used to mix Ray Price for several years in the '80s and then again in 2003. . Ray was Hank's protege and room mate. We discussed Hank and his last days at least once. Hank had severe stomach ulcers and according to Ray he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Enough years have passed that I forget all of the details, but Ray's description of Hanks condition at the time that he died is a first hand description from a very close friend who was there with him. Ray pretty much prefaced the conversation by saying, "What everyone says is wrong." One thing that I have learned from being around show business is that most of what you hear is not the truth.

No, goober. Johnny Horton. C&W singer who died in a car accident in rural Texas after leaving a gig in Austin on the way to Shreveport.. He won a Grammy 1959 for "The Battle of New Orleans." He had several number one charting C&W hits.
At the dealership I worked at we used to have to lead the top front of these fenders, if we had to replace one, because they came from the factory with that seam not finished. That is how I learned to lead.
