I like these "Vintage" photos a lot. I feel it's too bad ALL the race car photos (drags, lakes, Indy, trophy girls, etc) are not in their appropriate threads.

As long as there are cars in them we are stuck with "pokers".

As for the enlightenment of hot rodding in foreign countries I'll scroll by quickly unless interested but mostly not. Perhaps it should have its own subject.....

PS. rudestude, please find the period key on your computor or take a breath...

Jeepsterhemi, thanks for all the Montreal pics I too wonder about the number signs but think you may be right about Expo. My buddies father was the Divco dealer for Quebec and the Maritimes so if you come across any pics of those trucks I would love to see them.

This may look like an Areial Ladder (hook & laddder to some folks) but they were actually called "City Service" fire trucks. They did not have an aerial ladder, only "ladders" of various lengths. They were popular for awhile because they could carry ground ladders that were much longer than what the normal fire trucks could carry.

Mickey Thompson's Chevy powered (with 3-valve cylinder heads) Indy car. The car was a front wheel drive with four wheel steering. It never made the cut (did not qualify) and was driven at one time by Sam Sessions.

Just click the red button beside the word Vintage in the title, it will bring you to where you left off.

I watched a youtube video about a guy who collects fiberglass bodied cars, lots of them in his garden,
There was one of these, he talked a bit of itsstory.

Thanks for the great photos, George.

BTW, the #87 car on the rack behind you in the photo was also a front wheel drive car. To this day it holds the official 1 lap record for a front wheel drive car at Indianapolis at something over 151 MPH. Bob Mathouser was the driver and IIRC he got in a couple of official laps on a qualifying run before something broke and he spun.

Working for an innovator like Mickey Thompson must have been a great experience for you.

Studebaker, in an early attempt at being politically correct, replaced their female models with retired farmers...

The young man in the wheelchair in the photo working on M/T's Indy car in front of the garage in Gsoline Alley is Larry Burton. He built much of the car and was a super mechanic. He contacted polio in his early 20's, never recovered the use of his legs, and passed away in 2016, at the age of 80...
