Just watched the ABC Wide World of Sports Pomona 1965, Don's first National Victory.
Remember seeing it, remember the summer of 65 when I saw the Hawaiian at Woodburn.
Flash forward to MM 2014? shooting the breeze with Leong. Reminds me of the quote from Roland to Don, "Jeeeez, back then did you ever think we'd be doing this shit the rest of our lives?" Lot's of us STILL are!

Was this picture taken at the Ford test track in Dearborn Michigan near the engineering complex and Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village. If so as kids we used to ride our bikes to that location and peer over the brick wall into the test track by leaning the bikes against the wall and standing on the seats.

 

Yes, that's the hill at DPG ( Dearborn Proving Ground ). If you have good eyes or binoculars, the best view is from the tenth floor cancer wing of the hospital down the road from DPG.
