The Late John Ohlsen from Onehunga, Auckland built this Hot Rod in the 1950's.



John later moved to California to work for Shelby on the Daytona Coupes.

The probably all had Tow Vehicles waiting in Picton, and left theirs behind in Wellington [this saved on ferry costs]

 

Anyone know if they still give tours through the powerhouse???

 

My first real job was delivering auto parts in a Dodge pickup like that one. I didn't know a girl came with it

 

I will throw a few more out there....before I begin to bore anyone with them.... I just hate to keep all this new found history to myself.....

That M6 McLaren is driven by Lothar Motschenbacher. A west coast racer that used McLaren customer cars [quite successfully]

This was a Morris Minor Low Light body, with a 1955 Ferrari 555 Super Squalo Grand Prix Chassis underneath and powered by a 327 Corvette engine

Don't worry , the Ferrari has been restored.
