Nice pic, thanks for posting ...Hee Hee !!!
Thanks, Rootie, for another of those great modeling photos with race cars. Do you have any information on the driver in the photo? I don't recognize him.
Looks like a fun project
The drivers name is Wally Mitchell, don't know much about him though. Attempted Indy a couple of times but was DNQ.
Old Portland Hotel
Looks basically the same today. The diner is really good if you ever drive through that part of California
The first pass at Woodburn in June 1961.
Dick Martin in the roadster and Don Stafney in the 1934 Ford coupe advertising for Bernard Chevrolet.
... Barbara Eden and Shelley Fabares ...
My first vehicle memory. Me at 2 as a hood ornament on a 36 Buick
And they're still hot!!!!!....
Thanks for the info. I had to look around but I think the photo with the model was taken in 1947. The car looks like the same one that Louis Tomei drove in the 1946 500. Both Mitchell and Tomei are listed as using a Brisko engine. Here's a qualifying photo of Tomei from '46. Frank Brisko was based in Chicago and I think Mitchell was from there as well so there must have been some kind of connection there.
Here's a shot of Brisko and Mitchell and the car he drove in 46, the Mitchell Mfg. Spl. I can't find any record of other races for him so I wonder if he didn't "buy" his way into a Indy ride with his sponsorship money, kind of like Andy G. did back then too.
