Olio as a kid I built a few of that car and with good reason, I got to ride around the pits at NY national speedway with Roy Cook (on right) in the B/GS car around 64/65. Doug asked his brother to warm the car up and having met both of them at Jack Merkels shop a few days before, Roy saw me standing there and said "hey Pat wanna go for a ride" well I had a grin from ear to ear. One story I will never forget.
when they stayed at our shop while out on tour...Dougs little brothers name was Ray
I thought it was Roy I know there is a Ray Cook. I'll have to check my brain cells. Except for the letter everything else is correct.
Ray Cook raced a modified on dirt.
Exactly the way I was at that age...
Looks like George Robson car on 500 race morning in 1940. The car is one of the 1935 Ford factory cars that has been converted to use an Offy.
