  8. Probably bending the cotter pin or nail to hold the wheel onto the axle.

    I don't where this iconic Shell station is, but there is one like this in Winston-Salem, North Carolina

    Now that's a different kind of "Fly-In". Looks like a Luscombe 8A.

    I think this was Quality Oil # 2 . All but # 5 at Spring and Sprauge were razed well before about 1980 . The only reason #5 survived was the nearby NC Art College raising private money . I'm told about 190,oo. was raised to keep this last remaining building from going the way is it's 7 brothers .

    Number 5 was rebuilt about 1990 and was taken over by the N Carolina preservation league about 1996. I did a 1-245th scale model of this building in 2006. Quality oil # 5.jpg
