Rootie, I'm going to say Chuck Rodee in the Watson 9 and of course Elmer George in the 21.

You are probably correct about Rodee. OTOH, there's something about the way the driver is hanging on to the wheel that makes me think of McCluskey. Hopefully, Rootie has the information.

Rootie, is this Wilbur Shaw with Alden Sampson circa 1941?

    Thanks!

I remember carrying one of those bags to school. We called them "gym bags" as their main purpose was to carry your gym clothes and sneakers.

Pretty sure that is Rodee at IRP, 1962.
I believe that is Rodee at IRP, 1962.

That's Shaw on the left, but I can't say for sure who that is on the right but it doesn't look like Sampson. That's Shaw's Gilmore car from the 1930s so my best guess would be either Bill Holabird, who entered the car as the Holabird Spl. in 1941, or maybe Ervin Wolfe who entered the car as the Wolfe Spl. in 1946. I don't know what either looked like so it's hard to say for sure, could be someone entirely different. BTW, this is the car George Barringer was later killed in at Atlanta.
