Vintage shots from days gone by!

The VA here in Kansas City does this with flu shots in the fall. I'll bet the nurses here have never even seen a Bugeye Sprite however.

Legitimate skunk works car from Oldsmobile. I've seen that photo before, it was posted on FB. I worked with the daughter of one of the engineers on the project. She posted it on her page after he passed in remembrance of him.

 

1924 Buick - new shape radiator and the first year for front brakes. I presume this is some kind of dealers get together. I guess they have left the valve cover off to show the spectators the valve gear working? The GMC truck visible on the left is in another post further down the page.

 

This car is a 1914 Marmon 48. A 4 1/2" bore x 6" stroke six (572 cid) on a 145" wheelbase, one of the biggest cars of its day, though some makers did bigger engines. Price was $5,000 when a four cylinder Buick was $1,000. The Marmon truck building company (1963-97) was unrelated to the former car maker, apart from having bought the name from the corporate that owned it.

The car at the front is one of the first Lincolns, from when Henry Leland still owned the company.

 

More like 1925.

 

It might be a Rapid, one of the companies that evolved into GMC.

 

Nash Quads.

 

The bike closest is a Belgian FN four from about 1910. The bikes are all different so I suspect the riders provided their own machines.

 

The car is a Packard Twin Six. Looks like a Third Series car so the date is not before 1918.

I think this is a DH4 - with a V12 Liberty engine. The guy in the seat is probably another mechanic and they are doing a test run up.

It's about a half hour from me and I still haven't seen it, although during the time of the move there was a big section stored in a warehouse a block from where I worked, not sure why.
