You made me curious to see if Dr Pepper was around then and sure enough it was! My son will be interested in the history of Dr Pepper also since he works for Dr Pepper.

Buick Sales and service building. Cool how they made big elevators for cars. My parents bought a new Mercury Colony Park wagon from Orville Lowe's Midtown Motors in downtown Des Moines in 1966. It was parked on the third floor. We took the big elevator up to look at it. We rode down in the Mercury to try it out. Good memories! There was a yellow Cyclone GT parked on the showroom floor along with a long black suicide door Lincoln. I wanted Mom and Dad to buy the Cyclone, didn’t get my way. The long black Lincoln was just a shade over $7,000, sounds cheap now but that was a lot of money back then.

I have a long black Lincoln with suicide doors but I never got a Cyclone

The Gilmore Gas Station on the corner of Fairfax Ave. & Beverly Blvd. The CBS Studios sits on this location now. The gas station attendants with the change dispensers on their belts is a reminder that in the 1940's and early 1950's, the majority of the people did not have credit cards and paid with cash.
