THANKS for posting the photo. This particular magazine is the first car magazine I ever bought. I was not quite 11 years old. I still have it among my magazine collection.

Looks like Mike Nazaruk and mechanic Frankie DelRoy at Indianapolis in 1951. This was probably after qualifying as they both look happy and the car is clean. Rookie Nazaruk finished second in the 500 that year and the engine still had the same "cracked block" that it had the year before when Johnnie Parsons won the race.

I got lucky in the back seat of a 59 Chevy once! Lucky I didn't get the shit slapped out of me for being a little too "friendly":(

Good Lord, the Ford stylists sure rolled a lot of gutter balls on those Lincoln proposals.

    Hey Gary,
A great series of photo posts on those early racers at Bakersfield in 1959. It almost looked like "the brothers" with their blue jackets, Levis and buzz cuts in one of the pits photos. But, the race cars tell the story.

    two brothers in 1960.

We were there in 1960 and changes were made to Hank Vincent's, Top Banana FED. (from Nor Cal's Vic Hubbard Speed Shop) It was a hard charging FED with a 671, Hilborn two port and new mag wheels to go along with that full streamlined body. It was one beautiful race car, and fast.

In an effort to catch up, there is a fast and quick film action at the end of this movie clip. Hank Vincent is long gone for the victory, but the opponent was trying...
