Tony Nancy getting a splash of pop. Not enough for a full tilt run on the juice, maybe he just wanted to add some crackle to a tank full of alky...

The chunky gentleman on the right is master panel beater Wayne Ewing, who probably did the work on the nose of this hot rod...

George, I was not familiar with Wayne Ewing & I googled him. He built a lot of neat race cars, but I believe this picture is Lou Bany and Lou Senter of Ansen Automotive. I've got that magazine buried in my archives, god knows how long it would take me to find it.

Here's a picture of Baney and one of Ansen Automotive with Baney on the left and Senter in the middle.

  14. This is somewhere in New Zealand - sometime after mid 1964 when the new permanent black plates were introduced.

  15. It was not the chain drive that limited the speed. It was the solid tyres. Most places the speed limit on solids was 12 mph.

The solid rubber trucks were extremely limited in speed. Here is a later model AC Truck-prohibition-1.jpg Mack with pneumatic tires that my grandfather bought from the feds. It had been used by bootleggers. My grandfather converted it to spraying liquid calcium chloride which he helped develop for keeping down dust on dirt roads.

  23. Emma Peel is the name that comes to mind, I'll do a search. She was actually knighted.

Here is the link to her bio.
