I really have no info on that pic but I agree it sure does look like Balboa, and I know they ran those mufflers there. Also that #38 car sure looks like some of Bob Pankrantz's handiwork.

Now that Steel Wheel is posting, I reckon we'll hit 5000 this side of Christmas!
By the way, I think this picture below from a post a few days ago is too late - '67 or later, given the short length of the "new style" surfboards. Just sayin'

My brother used his FC-170 on the family farm, he bought it from a fellow who lived south of Houston, the fellow had a two car trailer, so I bought a 1966 Studebaker 4 door from him to make a load. His FC-170 has the same green and white color scheme as shown on the pictured FC-170. Also had a mechanical Borg-Warner bolt-in OD, made a difference on the highway, as indicated by the aftermarket tach. Also had wide wagon wheels with some Mudders. The 226 wore out pretty soon, so he bought a couple of '68-'69 Jeepsters to use for farm use. Myself, I have a '78 K5 Blazer for woods use. Can't haul as much, but I can get there and back, and that's what counts.

  12. Saw Thunder In Carolina in a kid filled Victory Theater in Milwaukie Oregon.
.Don't remember the year, but I think 63 or so.
There was a shower scene with Connie hines (Mrs.Post, Wilbur's wife on "Mr Ed"). I got in big trouble for yelling out "A little lower, let;s see them!" referring to her boobs.Got a BIG laugh, the ushers were not amused, almost threw me out.
    Bad stuff then.
Saturday morning / afternoon movies at the Victory! GREAT TIMES

Don Ringer, Portland Fireman, Part time "head porter" owned one of the first flow benches in Oregon. This dragster, powered by (2) Pontiac Tempest fours was called "8 the hard way" was preceded by another dragster with straight 8 Buick power. Sharp guy!

  19. Sorry, but that is NOT the Spruce Goose. I see no pontoons or as many engines as it has. And....it flew over the water at Long Beach, not the runway as the airplane in question is doing over Lindbergh Field in San Diego. Here is the Spruce Goose.... Spruce Goose.png

If someone can make this magazine article more readable it would be much appreciated.
