Where on earth did you find this photo???? I have some good friends who have known Buzzie forever and when I see something like this I always forward it to them. This one looks like a family photo. Are you related? Gary

    Hello,

Back in 1962, my brother had this great idea. By now, he had recovered from his 40 Willys explosion and burns, somewhat. (His remedy for full recovery was surfing until the sun went down. Sometimes, in Mexico, under a full moon, it was riding until the shark stories started out in the water.) His idea was to get the ultimate surf wagon, 4x4, home built camper on the back, drive anywhere Jeep for those undiscovered places south of the border. A low cost AD from a local newspaper sealed the deal. With everything he put on the Jeep, it was the worst handling/driving, Jeep for us. One small bump and the steering shimmied like no other. (We had to stop to make it not shake. even on the neighborhood streets.)

When we sold the house 1998, the pristine, green Jeep FC tailgate was still in the rafters of the big garage. Along with the chromed, scavenger pipes in the rumpus room/backyard garage rafters, there were two prized possessions left for the new owners.

Well, this story below was from an old HAMB Vintage Surf Transportation thread :

Aside: He actually liked going surfing with me (!!!) in my sedan delivery while he was building his VW van into a surf camper.

This bus looks to have the same front sheetmetal as a Commer cabover that I would love to have,I would hope it has a bigger motor then the 3 cylinder (six piston) knocker motor (diesel) that sounds like a Detriot since I read they were kind of on the slow side.

When I was in the Navy, I met a guy from California that had a summer job here. He said they used to play a trick on the visitors when the boss was away. They had an old steering wheel hidden in the bushes, and when all the tourists were lining up to watch the next eruption, one of them would walk across in plain view with the steering wheel, squat in the grass and give the wheel several turns, then stand and wait until the geyser was just about done, and give the wheel several turns and it would start to go down.
Back in the days when kids pranks were more or less harmless. Ha-Ha!
