Odd that you should ask... I am currently building a Hispano Suiza K6...it's not really a hot rod but I am changing it a little...it will be getting a modified pu box with a canvas cover on the rear section..oh ya...a new rear drive axle set-up also....and full length rear fenders...now if it was real....would be cool....[IMG]

That is Josh Saslove in a Kurtis chassis with sbc power and Mistral body at Laguna Seca 1963. I believe it went on to become the Alligator Spl. which was discussed here a while back.

I believe, in the olden days it was known as a Landau, a carriage that was open to the driver and enclosed for the passengers; a derivative is the landaulette which is usually the other way round, enclosed driver and open at the back for the passengers (newly married couple etc). Sometimes both driver and passenger roofs, which were separate, could be raised and lowered independently. Possibly named after the guy who invented it (a European, probably).

  17. I know....picky, picky, picky. Usually, the landau had a drop top in the rear like this....hence the term "landau bars" as the brackets that support them.... Landau Chevrolet.jpg

Top photo looks like Jerry Reichert in Frank Wagner's roadster at Terre Haute. Wanger would register his cars with USAC and run with them early in the season until IMCA kicked off its season. The second Wagner car - the ex-Foyt Traco car - was driven by Scratch Daniels.

Thanks for the additional shot of the Bryant Indy car with my man changing the right front.
