Lordy, I was no hero. I worked for Breedlove for over 5 years, building and crewing on the LSR jet cars, and after we came back from the salt in October '65 with the new record (600.601 mph), cleaned up the Spirit of America, repainted it, and got it ready for Goodyear's mandatory (it was in our contract) car show tour, starting with the one in CT in early '66. On top of getting the car ready, we had to convert our COE Ford C-850 box truck into a tractor, purchase a used furniture moving van trailer, convert it into being able to haul, load and unload the race car (34-feet in length) with only one person (me) and getting the whole thing to CT on time. I remember leaving L.A. on New Years Eve and driving straight through alone. The tour ended in July in San Francisco, after I wracked up 34,000 miles going back and forth the U.S.. I have no idea how many shows or Goodyear stores I had the car displayed at, all the arrangements were handled by Goodyear P.R. people. I've got stories about that "summer of love", met a lot of interesting people, but I don't think the Statute of Limitations has expired for some of the stuff...

Did you happen to have any contact with Larry Truesdale who I believe was the head of the Goodyear Racing Division as early as 1966?
