  1. Great "vintage" photo, beside that obvious fake train.

Don't think the train pics fake, although that one may have been colourised.. Staged, maybe, but not fake. (Most professional photos are staged, if you think about it).

  3. NEWS FLASH....Ford hits Plymouth! Film at 11:00.

  4. Not as vintage as suspected with that Charger in there....

If it was staged, somebody went to GREAT lengths to do it. Don't there were many commercial steam locomotives in 1968 (Dodge Charger)

I was only saying what I read recently (it was on the internet so must be true!).

The black and white version was posted recently in this thread and started some conversation about the (well known) photographer.

If it wasn't in this thread, I apologise.

I wish I could find the one I saw recently.

Edit: The photo is a recreation. The original was staged by rail enthusiast photographer O. Winston Link.

Here's the original. (staged, not fake)

Edit 2: Here's another one of his.

  7. I don't know about the above drive in shot, or this one for that matter, but this one was supposed to have been shot in '56, West Virginia (I think)

    Mart beat me to it

The screen is different and the telephone poles have different crossbars. Both are neat pictures.

My mom did house cleaning for a prominent Willamette Valley family, they had a big log home in the woods and a huge tree came through their roof and landed on top of the chair where the Mrs normally sat, close call.

Here are a few pictures from old 35 mm negatives I have in my collection. I mounted them in slide holders, then photographed them with a slide copying lens, and reversed them in Photoshop. What I can read of the sign in the first pic., says: jetty project sponsored by state department of conservation. 018.JPG 014.JPG 016.JPG 019.JPG 020.JPG

… yes it is true that John Glen did orbit the earth in a Mercury, but however as shown here and according to legend he is riding shotgun and is now orbiting the infield in a Challenger and about to "dock" somewhere on the starboard side of the photographers bleachers ….

… and since you asked, yes I am at it again … so with that we observe below what was once and is now the lost art of sand surfing prevalent mostly in Oregon. The concept is simple. Attach a large blanket securely by rolling one end up tightly, then shut the trunk over it while allowing at least 6-feet of overhang on the other end. Lay down on it and firmly grasp the edges of the towel. A driver gets into the car then takes off and drives parallel to the shore line in a maneuver known as skimming. Every so often the driver swerves a little to the left or right thereby whiplashing the occupants on the blanket. After a "run" at it is called, the driver then slows down and comes to a complete stop. Any person remaining on the blanket is declared the winner and the process starts over. As many as 5 people can start on the blanket per run since more the merrier as holding on gets to be a real every man for themselves battle …

Was checking out this old November 1956 Mechanix Illustrated run across a page that was book marked with a slip of paper the article marked was about the new 57 Ford's and there's a x next to the picture of a 2dr wagon and on the sheet of paper the ol boy had been crunching numbers.... Possibly a new wagon for the farm....[IMG][IMG]
