    Hello,
A Renault was my daily (alt) driver car for the first two years of college. I alternated every other day with this girl that wanted to be independent using her own car. What a difference between my 58 348 Chevy Impala and the next day, driving in this cool, black 4 door Renault. The horsepower difference was like night and day. But shifting and driving the stock transmission in the Renault was fun. It was a good thing there weren't any hills to and from college. The Renault was lacking in horsepower. But that cool factor was there in gobs... along with the neat horn. We used it a lot in traffic. ha!

    Thanks Rootie[/QUOTE]
Just to remind folks that the 1949 BRM was one of the most iconic race cars of all time. V16, 1.5 litre, 72 lbs boost pressure from the superchargers, 585 bhp at aprox 12,000 rpm.
There is a somewhat different view of part of the chassis in photographs after Wharton crashed one at 140 mph in 1953 at the Albi, France circuit. He survived the crash with bruising but left his shoes in the car after being thrown out!

I rediscovered this 1927 Gibson Company Automotive Equipment catalog which is really a fine hard back book.
Some of the item surprised me as be available way back then, such as the duster and car cover. The "Gordon Motor Crib" is interesting. 001m.jpg 003.jpg 002.jpg 007.jpg 005.jpg

As long as the baby doesn't inconvenience any of the passengers nor cause any cosmetic damage to the vehicle.

Ah, the good 'ol days. Back when children were seen and not heard.

and close enough for a good smackin'......
there's a commercial running now where "green means go" is prominent.....it spurred some conversation about how our mothers could drive a big 50's sedan with manual steering and reach back and slap three or four faces without taking her eyes off the road...(and we usually deserved it!!)

yeah, those were the days!!!........kids ain't getting enough beatin's these days

Amen brother! A good beating helped keep me in line and I didn't grow up to be an axe murderer.
