    Yep. It was right off Portland Rd (99E) on the North end of Salem. It's been gone for many years though. You could climb the trees just outside the track to watch the races for free.

    Sorry if there was some confusion. The picture Maggie posted is not the one in Salem Oregon. I'm just sayin' there Was a circle track speedway in Salem Or.

    Before you start scratching your heads over this one, you might recall this was a Photoshop job I created for April Fools Day on this thread a couple years ago (one of my better ones, it seems? :p). This is the real photo, from the state archives of Louisiana:

  26. I thought it was older because of the different hood. I've seen newer photos of the Jolly Dolly and they have the hood that in the older photo that was posted earlier.
     
  27. Yeah, the scoop didn't last too long. Then, it was back to the original hood. If I ever knew, I've forgotten the reasoning behind the switches. Bob's good friend, Rufus Boswell, ran a very similar '39 Chevy sedan. Perhaps, there was a follow the leader thing going on. I dunno.
