Police Traffic Squad Rides Motor Scooters
A SPECIAL traffic squad mounted on powered scooters is a feature of the Police Department of Inglewood, Calif. Use of the scooters, which can travel at a speed of 30 m.p.h. and cruise for 130 miles on a gallon of gasoline, enables policemen to patrol longer beats more efficiently than they could shorter beats on foot and has decreased the number of cases of motorists who try to “beat” traffic lights at street intersections.

    Tiny Car Does Big Job

ONE answer to a shopper’s prayers is this miniature, two-person convertible, called the Towne Shopper, soon to be produced by the newly formed International Motor Car Co. Designed for economy, it is priced at $595 f.o.b. San Diego and promises 45 to 50 miles to the gallon at speeds up to 50 m.p.h.

Made largely of aluminum, the flashy little coupe weighs only 600 pounds, is less than 10 feet long, providing easy maneuverability. The compact two-cylinder Onan engine, squeezed under the stub hood in the rear, leaves the larger space in the front for storing groceries or baggage. White wall tires, a radio with aerial, and a folding top add the luxury touch.

Got to think the model is the old Monogram Big Tee, if it is, the engine is for sure a SBC. I just restored my Big Tee that I found in my moms attic when we cleaned it out before selling the house. I also brought home all my other old models, took my memory back over 50 years when model cars and the little rod magazines were my whole life!

I have no idea what sort of vehicle it is. Viewing the family photo albums dating from the mid 20's to the mid 40's tell me that they were well traveled, well entertained and apparently had means. There were a couple of cars that looked very unique and not identifiable by my skills.

Early days on the now infamous Patpong thailand. Note the checkered flag sign on the right it is from Ric Menard's "Grand Prix Bar" which closed in the late 80's
