Found one of these in a wrecking yard in Idaho a few years back. It had one of the best lettering jobs I've ever seen on the door. Some commercial business.
Used to have one running around Woodburn when I was a kid. The guy was a plumber and he kept pipe in those pull outs in the rear.

I've been a "looker" for a while, I guess it's time to post some from my area.

I have first hand experience that these would have been a good idea on my dads Desoto. Luckily I only needed some stitches. I was only two at the time and don't remember it.

Trade St Looking North.jpg Looking Northwest on Trade Street from Nursery Street, Amity Oregon. Off camera, to the right, was Aldridge & Watts service station when I was very young. My dad work
ed as a mechanic there until 1951.

Taken slightly easterly of the photo above, below is the gas and service station which either had been, or was to become Aldridge & Watts station in the late 1940's.

In Dayton, Oregon, taken near the location of the current High School, which lies immediately to the right of this scene.

Below, even though this sign indicates Dayton, Oregon, it was actually located along the Westside Hwy., at the current intersection of Hwy. 99W & Hwy. 18 (McDougal Corner)

  17. Milwaukee Wisconsin still has Sherpers which was an Army, Navy Supply store and still is a Military supply store. They bought all the remaining inventories from all the local AN stores and draw vintage products from their warehouse to put on the store shelves.

The vintage stuff sells at collector prices. Canteens, packs, web gear, and some tents etc....

They have other countries stuff mostly clothing but its cool to see some of their tactical gear as well.

Just don't expect the give away prices that they used to have!

We had Sunnys Surplus stores in our area. The one closest to our house had a pizza shop next to it. Spent a lot of birthday and grass cutting money there. Once I got enough stuff there to make a hat like the head guy on Rat Patrol. Banana seat, high rise handle bars and that hat. I thought I was the stuff!

I visited Chicago in 2009 and loved it. Got a Christmas present yesterday which is a collection of old/new photographs. Found one that suits this thread.Sorry about the poos reproduction. The grille on the 37 is interesting. Chicago1 (Medium).jpg

Here's a Christmas, 1947 photo of the Texas State Capitol building and Congress Avenue in Austin. Note the U.S. Army information shack on the sidewalk on the left, The photographer, Neal Douglass, stood in the center of the street with his camera and tripod and took a time exposure of a few seconds, which is why the lights of oncoming cars (left) and cars going toward the capitol building (right) appear blurred/streaky.

Early 1970s photo of Texas Avenue in Baytown looking east. I like many things about it but especially that blue VW Beetle, given that I had a gold one just like it and drove the you-know-what out of it. Took it out on several journeys to west Texas, in the summer, with no AC. Ah ... the folly of youth!

1922 photo of a U.S. Army Blimp at Balloon Field two miles northeast of Fort Bliss in El Paso. It was piloted by Maj. H. A. Strauss. The C-2 was later destroyed while being taken out of a similar hangar at Brooks AAF when the envelope caught and was torn on the hangar.
