Cooke City, Montana, on the highway to Yellowstone Park. When I was 17, my History teacher owned the Ma Perkins Café across the street, and I spent the summer there working as a dishwasher. I also spent a lot of time with the daughter of the folks who owned the Standard garage next door. What memories!

Is that Mobil oil logo? Same logo on this car and if you zoom in you can see a trophy. I guess the number 8 was used on all our cars.

This Studebaker electric was on of two such vehicles used to shuttle members of Congress from their office buildings to the Capital when the tunnel between them first opened in 1909. Today there is a subway type system that does this. This comes from Hemmings.com

I was wondering the same thing. I have only been through there two or three times, but do not remember anything like that nearby.

The car is being restored, as revealed in the Batavia NY Daily News Today.

I'm going to add a few photos, most of which are from the SoCal area.
    gable.jpg
Clark Gable and his Duesenberg roadster. Gable was a "car guy". I used to see him off and on at the Bob's in Toluca Lake with his McCulloch supercharged '55 T-Bird.
    royrogers.jpg
Another hot rodder, Roy Rogers (real name, Leonard Slye) at the Salt Flats with his hopped-up Hemi wagon.
    chp1.jpg
A couple of early CHP cars. Maybe the young lady is working "undercover", or possibly, "under the covers"...
    chp2.jpg
    Straight-8 power, baby.

    catalina.jpg
The town of Avalon on Catalina Island. The entire island was privately owned at one time, by the owner of the home in the foreground, Phillip Wrigley. He made a couple of bucks selling chewing gum. This photo was taken prior to the construction of the famous Casino.
    casino.jpg
A few years later, the Casino is built and still in use today. It was never used for gambling. It was (and still is) a huge dance hall. The hotel on the right was once a home to the U.S. Navy during WWII.
    mm1.jpg
Here's a sailor that was housed at the Navy facility on Catalina, with his new wife. Lucky him.
    mm16.jpg
Another photo of the sailor's wife. Not too bad for a 16 year old girl.
