And SOMEBODY get that '40 outta the fire! What in blazes (sorry) is going on there?

 

I recognize the picture with Hauswald's bakery as being a shot of Edmondson Ave. in Baltimore city. As a child my mother would take us to that bakery and get loaves of day old bread. She also made a point of having us travel there on the streetcar. Fond memories.

 

Cyclists! Scourge of modern society.

 

Rioting during July 1946 printers' strike against the Vancouver Daily Province. Another photo in the series shows several men kicking the burning papers away from the car.

Love the trolley photos!!! I can remember 60 years ago when my friend and I would hitchhike 2-3 blocks to home and sometimes a trolley would pick us up and let us sit on the step for a couple blocks then drop us off. The photos bring back great memories.

More likely 1957; 1953 IL plates were ivory with red numbers - they weren't red with white until '57 and again in '61 - the last time that color combo was used here.

No real snow for me, I am North East of Buffalo, But South of Buffalo is still digging out.
