No, that's correct.
Chronologically speaking, the '41 Buick's acceptance at Indianapollis in 1948 led to the 1949 Kurtis Sport's construction (the Buick was wrecked while returning to Los Angeles in 1948). The Buick is an integral part of Kurtis Kraft history, and I didn't want that piece of the puzzle omitted.
Those frozen 1940 Buicks are in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Nov 1959. Rolled this '55 Plymouth over in 11th grade with 5 friends. Still remember walking around on the headliner trying to get out. We all survived. This is my first try at posting/photos here on the HAMB since starting yesterday... consider it practice.
Wonder what the story is on the Packard on the ship. I tried to increase the size and it appears to be the Twelve cylinder senior series convertible coupe. My guess is 1935 with the suicide doors. What a fabulous car, wonder if it is still around.-Jim

That almost looks photo shopped. I find it hard to believe it was being transported near the outboard side of a ship's bow subject to salt water spray with the top down.....unless that wealthy owner is the same one bringing his wrecked plane home - also on the bow.

Here's some close up pictures on the ship (Normandie or Normandy) with the plane and car on the deck.
and a link to where the pictures are found. A close up of the car shows lettering on the windshield. It reads 500th.
Story says the car is a 36 Packard V12. 35 is close enough in my book though.

It is either Mrs Robert Peterson,wife of Hot Rod publisher , or photographer Eric Rickman's first wife . Can't remember exactly what I read in HRD last year.

The response was 1936 Packard V12. I had thought 1935 but 1936 is probably correct.
Whatever the situation it is a very nice car. I owned a 1937 Packard Rumble Seat coupe V12 that I sold when i needed money and have regretted it ever since. Great cars.
Yep....From Hot Rod Magazine, around 1961...They were doing some write ups/testing on some of the karts availble at the time and this pic is one of the secretarys giving one a go...Not written in stone but pretty close; at twelve or so years old I thought both were pretty hot....

On 22 June 1936, a Blackburn Baffin, S5162 of A Flight, RAF Gosport, flown by Lt Guy Kennedy Horsey on torpedo-dropping practice, buzzed Normandie a mile (2 km) off Ryde Pier and collided with a derrick which was transferring a motor car belonging to Arthur Evans, MP, onto a barge alongside the ship. The aircraft crashed onto Normandie's stern. The pilot was taken off by tender, but the wreckage of the aircraft remained on board Normandie as she had to sail due to the tide. It was carried to Le Havre, France. A salvage team from the Royal Air Force later removed the wreckage. The pilot was Court-martialled and found guilty on two charges. Evans' car was wrecked in the accident, which was brought up in Parliament....'

A cushman scooter dad used to take all of us kids for a ride on, our hunting camp in background.
Note to what I remember to be a '61 Ford Wagon, prior family car to this one was a Red 1957 Ranch wagon.
Something else interesting is the Falcon tire and hub assy. If you notice there is nothing on the right side holding tire/wheel on. He used the falcon front hub. It had a HUGE sproket also and the 2spd trans. Top speed in high gear was under 15 mpg but talk about climb hills in low gear! haha
Here is another scooter dad bought back in 1964. Its a Montgomery Wards that was used as a local meter maid scooter. (reason for the black & white color vs the standard blue)
Its a 1955 or Older. Not sure on year. Always thought it to be a 1949 but that could be wrong.
So in a month or so above scooter will be 50yrs of ownership for me. I still own it!
Hoping to do a proper resto soon.

Maybe someone could help me out with exact year. Remember it to have a Continental Engine on it.
