Re post # 84357 "Jumping the tracks": When I was a kid my dad came home upset one evening having seen a guy kill himself by doing that. It was before seat belts were required and when the car bottomed out it bounced him back up in the seat so hard that he broke his neck on the roof.

To be honest though, the '40' was never an official Ford designation, it was just the "Ford GT", the '40' part was attached during production by workers building the car due to it only being 40inches in height and it caught on!

Jumping the tracks.Yep,used to be some fellers down Florida way that did something similar.They would jump State Rd 60 in their airboats.hehehe.

^ Be sure to wear your seat belt when doing this, as your butt will be a foot off the seat if you don't. Not to mention the headache you get in a closed car or the chances of being tossed out of your roadster! My Uncle Bill was an expert at this in and around the east side of Indy. Gary
