Vintage shots from days gone by!

This song came up in discussion just yesterday. Classic!

 

Curtis Mayfield did the most recognized (used in the sound track for Superfly) but it was covered by a lot of artists.

 

I seem to recall colored Port a Walls back then.

 

When I worked at a dealership in the mid 60's, there was a guy used to come around and add whitewalls to black wall tires. His mobile workshop had several styles and colors of appliques. dual strip, triple strip, two whites and a red, blue, yellow red orange blue wide ones, diamond's, horse shoes, 4 leaf clovers. They pulled the wheels, ground the sidewalls added some adhesive, put on the applique and then put them in a heated press. I remember they went for like 4 bucks a tire for simple narrow whites up to 10 bucks for the specials.

 

Looks like Transit road was a little narrower back then.

 

unsolicited and Uncalled for comments aside. What days were those exactly ?

 

Thanks for the additional pictures. My wife has family in western New York ... we definately plan on visiting this the next time we're in the area.
