Southurn: I think you're spot on with the bike, glad you found it interesting. I found the pic on flickr under the user andwhatsnext. There isn't much info with the pic, I'm afraid.

    That's the Avro "Avrocar"...a one-off,
    experimental, "Coanda effect" VTOL
'flying saucer' built for the U.S military,
    circa 1957-'58 by AVRO-Canada. Back
in the mid-1980's when I worked for
Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. in
Mississauga, I worked with two former
AVRO employees - a metal fabricator
and a pattern-maker who worked on
both the Avro "Avoocar' 'flying saucer'
project and on the also equally ill-fated
    Avro "Arrow" jet interceptor whose
cancellation on "Black Friday" in 1958
    killed the company. Wilupedia
has an entry on the Avrocar here -

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avrocar_(aircraft).

I also found two neat Youtube videos
    showing the Avrocar undergoing
    testing circa 1957 too.

Air show of mostly Vintage warplanes.
Website has a couple dozen photos of planes from Southern California. Some used in movies. A few Japanese and Russian.
I heard some of the planes flying in yesterday to Big Bear California airport.
