Gus is sitting in at least a '64 or '65 Corvette. The '63 had an extra piece of chrome on the A piller of the door.

When I was a kid the local funeral home in our small town also provided the ambulance service. They had 2 Merc wagons identical to this one set up with a red "bubble gum machine" and siren on the roof, "2 way" radios, a stretcher in the back and a set of oxygen tanks. Pretty basic stuff but a real lifesaver in a rural area back then. Prior to this they had used a white over red '58 Merc and a white over red '60 Buick. My cousin bought the '58 Merc and the funeral director donated the Buick to the volunteer fire dept. to use as the Fire Chief's car when they got the two white Merc's. They were the last ones, he gave it up in the early 70's and they used the Merc's as "flower" cars for the funeral home for a few more years.

Yep, looks like 1938 chevrolet, a new car in winter 39/40 during the winter war when the photo was shot. Our means of transportation durin the winter war were the skies, finnish working horses and american cars. No other cars could not stand the extreme conditions...

Btw, big thanks Eddie, I really enjoy your contribution to this great thread.
