    c. A cool Sat night on Feb 1941 and the townfolks, along with the California Aqueduct Workers who aren't drunk across the street at The Jackhammer Nightclub gather on Indio's Fargo Street at The Desert Theatre. A double header of Dagwood and Blondie comedy and Charlie Chan Mystery will hold their attention.
Inside in addition to the usual movie popcorn in the north corner of the lobby Prudencia Flores sells homemade tacos and burritos.

June 2010: The old theatre, long vacant and derelict after the sons and daughters of the pioneers departed for fancier digs in the West Valley, is still there and was scheduled for renovation prior to the recent economic downturn. Mr Flores moved across the street when the Desert closed and opened Rincon del Norteno (The North Corner). I eat there once a week.
