And that's an Austin beside it.
Or have I had too much Scotch???
Todays Friday Photo Without a Caption Contest on The Old Motor.
Yup thats the XB45 Tornado, the B45 that this became only served for several years, had many firsts in aviation though (And UGLY as shit!).
FlickR member BeautyofthePast posted this photo in January
showing three fellas she termed "alpinists" posing after topping
a rocky crag. She had nothing on the date or location. My
WAG is that they're Americans or Canadians somewhere in
the Rockies, roughly about 1915. Anybody else know or want
to venture an estimate? Cool photo!
Horseshoe Falls, as photographed from the standpoint of a Canadian
photographer. This is another image captured by a process called
Photochrome (apparently properly "Photochrom Zürich") and was
posted on FlickR by member JosefNovak33 whose post of the Swiss
Alps was posted here a few days ago. This HAS to be pretty early,
judging from the fairly pristine state of the woods in the background!
ANYBODY wanna venture a date or range? This Photochrome is ob-
viously hand-tinted and is mounted on cardboard, apparently a com-
mon practice "back in the day." My wife and I have these among the
keepsakes handed down by our ancestors. I need to look this process
up, as the term is new to me.
Beautiful glass-plate image of Lake Balaton, Hungary, at sunset, taken some time
between 1900 and 1910, according to FlickR member Elinor04 whose grandfather
was the actual phtographer! This and the several other natural shots I posted here
recently are from an impressive FlickR series called simply "Antique Photographs
of Nature." Thanks, Elinor!
...and not just another Ryan mail plane.
