Try this again. Picture didn't show up before.

This was on the wall in the bathroom at a place in Spokane Washington called Milford's. Thought it was funny. I know it sounds a little creepy, but a guy could spend a good hour hangin out in the bathroom checking out the old pictures.

    Is this progress ??
Should have left it the way it was,, A station like that today
could be a money maker.. 10$ for a postcard, or to have your picture taken
next to it with your car, 20$ , sure there are lotsa ways it can pay,
Dont know what people are thinkin,, just to let it sit there and rot,,

After living in NC for a while I learned that there isn't a lot of progress in a large portion of that state.

Not just deep south. When I was growing up in the 50's here in the English Midlands my Mum used to serve chiterlins, pigs feet, brawn (thats something made from pigs heads),and faggots. That is not American faggots, but something like meatballs made from pigs offal and seasoning

Note how good that DeSoto looks slammed down by the luggage and passengers.

Thats very true!----The "Limey's" had it tough between the "Buzz Bombs" & V-2's coming down around---They had to scrounge for food (close to air raid shelters).
I'm afraid our young ones are going to experience this in our near future.

  18. The driver of the race car at the bottom is none other than famous cam grinder Ed Winfield back in the day when he still was racing . Apparently that ended when he married.

They had it tough much longer after the war then here,I think rationing stopped here shortly after the war but I read it went on into the 50s over there.

That gate and everything in the picture is long gone. The photo was taken along highway 10, and based on the arrow pointing on the sign it's probably looking northeast at the intersection with Jefferson Street. However, if you were to turn left at that corner and go a couple blocks you get to downtown, and most of the buildings there look more or less like they did 100 years ago.

I'd guess that it was shut down long before anyone thought that someone might pay $10 to have their picture taken in front of an old gas station.
