Thanks, man! As I see it, the HAMB trad era and TRAD Rock&Roll go pretty much hand in hand. I think of true old-time R&R as "THE theme music" of trad hotrodding. ;)

  2. Note that the photographer managed to exclude any hint that the car has more than two wheels.

It's modern. Look at the font on the rooms sign, and the light poles are modern.

Just my 2 cents. I think this happens because we've never agreed on some rough cutoff for what we are going to consider VINTAGE. I think a rule of thumb would at least help well-meaning guys and gals avoid pretty recent pix. There's no PERFECT definition of the term. I've suggested before maybe 1980, just for SOME practical rule of thumb. That way, we'd be assured material (usually) would be over 30 years old.

Ray, and some of his designs that have stood the test of time as true classics. I am sure someone has more pix of Loewy designs, like the Avanti, they can share.

Loewy had some clunkers too as did all of the famous designers. One of the more interesting stories about him is his low input but taking great credit for the Avanti design. There was a great detailed article in Collectible Automobile a few years ago and this story in Hemmings recounts some of it.

  11. Those Lincoln pics were the only ones I saw in the LOC archives with his name attached but didn't refine my search parameters to look further.

More Ray. I've got a Broil-Quik and for a 54 year old appliance, it beats most of the new ones we have hands down.

Good call guys, when I first saw the photo I thought it was '60s.
After you called me out I researched the original...........2000s
    I have deleted it.

    Thanks for keeping me honest..

This is my favorite thread on the HAMB. I look at it at least twice a day just to keep up. I like all the photos of movie stars, city scenes, rural landscapes, motorcycles and airplanes. Then Still Crazy goes and posts this picture and it blows me away!

SO I'm guessing this Loewy was an inventor? And his car...I know it's a Lincoln, but I'm not real sure what to think of it. It's cool looking. There's a sun roof, but i don't know, it's just different and I like it:)
