    And the oil streak was heavier on hills where the engines worked harder and blew more vapor out the road draft tube.And cars that burned oil were common.And more flat tires.

    I pumped plenty of gas as a teen in the sixties and checking the oil was a task that needed to be done constantly. It was not unusual for us to be refilling the oil racks a couple of times a day we put in so much oil at the pump.

    And this was not just to the old clunkers, fairly new cars were getting oil also. Doing what we called an oil change at the pump was not uncommon on some of the older cars when they needed 3 quarts of oil and a can of STP!

    Sorry for the bad pictures... My Fiance had these posters framed and put on the wall for my b-day. I bought the posters about 6 years ago when I was living down in Houston from a Lady at a swapmeet. She said her husband took the pictures back in the 50's. Dont know if its true, but She had many more. I was a poor student so I only got these two....
