To me, this photo has a soft, special effects look about it. It's hard to tell if it's real, or that is one big ass TV with a lot of model cars! Gary

I guess this is as good a place as any to post this.
A buddy's T shirt that was never worn from the Winternationals 1967, size small. He'd take an XXL now.

That police car thingy says New York port authority on it.

  18. You got me involved and I agree that it looks phoney, but I think it's real. For one thing, it seems to me that it would be unlikely that anyone would have that many model cars of the correct years. Also, I doubt that anyone would have bothered to create that fence in front of the cars. On the other hand, the license plates look hincky and the ground is too smooth as if it was paved and paving seems unlikely to me, especially during the depression. Ther are a few more things but I will leave it at that. It's good fun either way.

Farming is one of the most dangerous occupations, believe it or not. How my father-in-law wasn't killed when his tractor got away with him and rolled down a hill, I don't know. I know he was thrown clear.

new year greeting cards, russian style..
here is the descriptive text from the website:
    http://ptldme.blogspot.com/
These "New Year" cards are from Soviet Russia circa the late 1950's and early 60's. It was (and still is) popular in Russia to appropriate western images and ideas about Christmas to New Years because religious holidays were not permitted in the USSR and New Years was the only holiday not associated with communist ideology. The card's space and satellite imagery coincide with the launch of Sputnik in 1957.
