I don't think I have posted this image on here yet?
I know it is a long shot but why not try. Can anyone identify where this shot was taken?

The truck is a 1957 Desoto sweptside, Everyone has probably seen the Dodge version with the wagon quarters and some have seen the Canadian Fargo version but the Desoto would have been built for export only. Cuba? Hawaii? Central American? Virgin islands? not sure where it might have went but this is the only picture I have ever seen of one and may be the only one ever made??? This would have been made to compete with the Chevy Cameo etc.

The South African plant was merely an assembly plant that took CKD Complete Knock Down components and put them all together to sell on the local market kind of like putting together a large model car. You don't make anything your just bolt it together. The Sweptside versions were only made in Detroit but the Desoto version was for export markets only.

I should recognize what is written there, I wrote it! Copied and pasted from my website to that thread. But it does not answer the question.
Where was the photo above taken?

Roadkill, my Mom and Dad lived in Wisconsin Dells in the mid '40's. Just prior to my arrival on this earth (1952). That pic of the Dells Boat Co. places their house directly behind that building. Along the river and up on a cliff/overhang. Have several relatives still in the area although Mom and Dad eventually ended up down in Waterford WI where I grew up. As a kid Wisconsin Dells was a magical town and really grew to be the wonderland it is now. Thank you for the great memories that pic evoked. Mark L
