It's funny when I looked at this picture and how time had changed. They may have stole hubcaps back then but when I was growing up having someone stealing your car radio, amps, tapes and CB radio was what we were concerned with.
There was coverage in one of the old school hot rod books when this car, or what was left of this car was hauled out. If I'm not mistaken Boyd Coddington was there to witness it.
Wow! A really rare limousine. My memory says they made a dozen or so a year compared to about 1800 Cadillac limos (half without divider windows). The carpet in the Imperial limousine was motion, a fancy way to say sheep wool. In mid 80s I saw an original one owner at car show in Seattle, beautiful. Also saw one for sale cheap since it was a total rust bucket.
Plymouth into the time capsule article is very cool. I had not heard of contest before. Unfortunatly it was very badly rusted when they opened the time capsule. Seems to me someone was going to try and restore it.
Jimmy Wilburn leading Ted Horn - Langhorne May 10, 1942 This was Wilburn's one and only appearance at the Horne. He set a track record of 105.571 mph which was damn fast back then. Won his heat race beating Horn. During the heat his goggles were busted. He required several stitches and fragments removed from his eye. He beat Horn again in the feature.
