My mom always liked Larry, he ended with a pretty big spread in northern San Diego county. Myron Florens family went to our church for a time. A won anna too.... turn off the bubble machine...
Bunch of my college buddies always got the call to play in Myron's band when he would come through the Turlock/Modesto area. Always the double bass, trombone, and clarinet guys - he never needed a sax player, hahaha.
Joe Marks and crew. Joe's grandmother ran an Indiana grocery store and sponsored his racing. Joe with Tommy Hinnershitz at Indy, 1941.
Harry Miller built two cars for Gulf Racing, they had six cylinder blown and intercooled engines set at 45°. I think this is George Bailey in the seat. Lastly, here is the car built for George Barringer, seen after the 1941 Gasoline Alley fire at the Brickyard. He is surrounded by Deacon Litz and Wilbur Shaw.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Seriously though, Grandma sure treated Joe well, I wonder if she bought him the jacket too.
This picture pretty much describes a lot of my days playing with hot rods (especially if you were to give those monkeys a football!)
