That's amazing to see a Durant on the HAMB a few posts before.. We had a 1929 Durant when I was young. That little fella in the picture is yours truly. It wasn't a Hot Rod but probably contributed to my love for cars. I remember going with my Dad to pick up the bumpers after he had them re-chromed. This picture was taken at our home in Detroit. The house in the background was our neighbors. Last year when I drove by the old neighborhood, the neighbors house was gone and just a grass lot. The neighbors teenage girl used to baby sit me & my sister. She was a playboy bunny but I didn't have a clue at the time what that was.:D:D

To bad it’s a Harley if she had an Indian she would only need to kick it once....

I don’t think I agree with you. The guy who owns this one has had it 76 years.... still only takes one kick. 56DF7250-D5A9-4B03-8ED8-9F6CA7EEE0E8.jpeg

A couple weeks ago I started wondering the same thing, and found that exact quote.

I've been riding a '48 Harley panhead for many years and it starts with one kick - hot or cold- and idles. If they don't , there's something wrong with it! Back in the late '60s when so many guys were building choppers out of old Harleys, you know why they were always blipping the throttle ? because they wouldn't idle for more than a few seconds with out dyeing . Usually for the same reasons that made them hard to start.

I ride my old tank as much as I can . I’m the same way , cold a few “ strokes “ to get fuel into the cylinders , turn the ignition on and lay into it and she will rumble to the nice slow pace we all love to hear . When hot , turn the ignition on and climb aboard , lay into her and be sure to stroke all the way through , or you will be hobbling for a few days . If she don’t light , you didn’t talk nice to her and she is showing you no respect , you loose !
