There’s another dimension to this experience: the Nichols Music Box. One of these has to be familiar. I never knew how they worked until I saw this: https://youtu.be/VgP42b3IpaU
You had to be really wealthy to own a Pierce Arrow, and to have a hired driver, This is a top of the line, 66hp 5 passenger touring, circa 1920ish. These were around 7000 dollars, a new Ford was less than 400.
First ride in a Mustang for me was Ford pavilion at New York World's Fair, Flushing Meadows, Corona Park LI, NY 1964!
They had good painting equipment but the problem was they used cheap paint! If you knew someone who worked for one of the inexpensive companies and you purchased the paint and let them do the paint job in many cases you received a beautiful paint job. I knew a guy that only worked for one of these companies after his day job at a body shop and he would go into work around 6 PM and stay until after midnight spraying between 5 and 10 cars a night. Keep in mind the cars were all prepped and ready for painting when he showed up for his shift. I used his services a few times and each car looked beautiful when he was finished. Jimbo
