The first shot is a pretty rare photo of George Amick at Terre Haute in 1957. I say rare because Amick seldom raced sprint cars anywhere. He had more of a midget background before going to Championship cars. And I'm not sure of the track but this is a 1968 photo of Bobby Unser in the Rislone 3 followed by Jim Malloy in one of the first 4 Cam Ford Dirt Championship cars. Well he did "do whatever he wanted to" but that contract clause was still there - so - if you can find old AMA District 37 records (there are some on-line) you will see an amateur rider, often finishing ahead of the experts, by the name of Harvey Mushman. That is the name Steve used in order to go on racing undetected by the studio bosses. Pretty much all his fellow AMA riders, and the fans as well, knew it was Steve McQueen.
