I hated working without a cross arm...
Now that's a lot of bull
Hershey's Ice Cream is still in business in Harrisburg,Pa. No connection to Hershey Foods. Rather bland mediocre ice cream. Sure wouldn't mind finding that Dodge truck though.
That's a "lotta bull" ! Lol
1 more car I promise, Rex Winter
Dry n windy Lubbock TX
Calling @Dean Lowe is this you?
Very Early Cha Cha with then husband Jack
The first photo must be Speedy Helm with whoever is driving his car that day. I always associated a car number 3 for Helm cars but maybe this 5 car is an early one? Is there info on this shot?
The last photo is a real beauty show somebody's Offy going up Pikes Peak; probably early 1950s. Again, I don't recognize the car although I probably should. Is there any background on this great shot?
Thank you, Rootie!
That's Harold Shaw in the Helm Hisso. Don't know what track but it's certainly a State fair track, Minn. maybe (?)
The 2nd shot is of Pete Wood driving the Bill Johnson Wayne 12 port/ Silnes at P.P. 1951.
It is effective, but probably not the best way to get the ladies attention....
I worked for Western Union Telegraph for about a year in 197?.
I was on a crew that only took down (solid) copper wire, rolled it up and loaded it in box cars.
We took down miles of wire a day and never wore a belt. We would climb up, throw one leg over a cross arm, cut the tie wire and throw the wires off onto the ground. We had a Jeep with collapsible reels on a winch to roll up the wire.
It looks like he is using city water from the hydrant to keep the dust down.
They had a similar truck that sprayed used motor oil on the dirt roads where I grew up.
I remember mom not appreciating the oily foot prints everywhere.
I find myself saying "it was a different time" pretty often these days...
Crosley Hot Shots. Circa 49-50.
Caldwell would have been one of very few cities using Diamond T equipment.

Looks like these 4 girls are about to encounter an “on purpose” since I don’t believe in accidents.
