Hello, Who in So Cal cannot forget this famous coastal curve on Highway 1? It is Point Mugu Rock in the city of Camarillo, but most still think it is a part of Los Angeles’ far reaching coastal area from Malibu North. We have been past this coastal point as part of our up/down the coast surf adventures. It is not feasible to surf around this large imposing rock, but, just beyond the corner, near the U.S. Naval base there are rideable waves. It is listed as in Camarillo, CA, but most think it is part of Los Angeles or at least, the nearest big city one comes to is Oxnard, CA. We knew of it due to the 1000s of times we took the highway North to Santa Barbara during the winter months to surf in the northern locations. On our way home, countless times instead of the faster freeway up the Conjeo Grade into Los Angeles city route. Most of the time we could not make it to the top of the long grade, so, we “had” to take the coastal route starting at the big rock on the beach, all the way to Long Beach. Jnaki My wife and I drove this highway almost exclusively every time we went North for a photo shoot or vacation. Also, definitely coming home along the coast after stopping for a day or two in Santa Barbara. It is just a nicer route to keep the juices, flowing as we end our road trip tour for the journey home. Note: It has its dangers as the oncoming traffic is only about 12 inches away going in the opposite direction, so wide awake driving is a must! But, one cannot imagine the feel of this coast line as part of So Cal that draws a ton of folks to see and drive. It is definitely one to take when going North or South from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, anytime. At night, it is definitely not for sleepyheads…!!! YRMV Note 2: The best description is this video from several years ago:
I've spent some time using one of those as well as"throwing pieces" in the loader, pick, shovel and the bob tail.. Then I got smart and decided since no one was making me do it, I found a healthier job with better pay.
Well they used to anyway. Now everybody's a victim. Nobody's responsible for their own behavior. It's always someone else's fault.
I think this is the Boblo boat that used to sail to Boblo Island amusement park from Detroit. It closed in the early nineties and the boats were parked for many years until this one burned in a fire in 2018.
