    If I remember well, these guys are skyscraper window washers...

    ..the platform let go so they pull up the guy by the rope around his waist....

    I have always enjoyed Jeepsterhemi's Montreal contributions - the French have a flair for things, ie. that little logo on the fireman's coffeewagon.
     
  19. The thing that bothered me was the gloved left hand on the edge of the roof not tightly grasping for dear life and the the use of the knee against the building instead of the feet to aid in the rescue.

    As I have mentioned before, my dad was an engineer on the Santa Fe RR and one of his runs was to San Diego on the "San Diegan". Going South you would always sit on the right side to enjoy the beach views. On the return trip you could enjoy the water from the left side. Occasionally I would ride in the cab of the engine and even honk the horn. The train stopped at every small town it seemed... San Juan Capistrano, Escondido, Del Mar, and so on. @jnaki, you had mentioned the Red Car getting you from Long Beach to Union Station. That was a great way to travel, busses were available to but were slower. San Diego also had their version of the rail system. All you needed was a token.
