Hello, During the time period before the pandemic started, driving down this coastal city to the beaches at the Southern end was always fun. There were bustling businesses that catered to hot rods and just general car repairs. There was a 50s style diner that had Tuesday/Wednesday hot rod gatherings and was a local hang out for the time era folks to enjoy great food, lots of it in portions and hear old time rock and roll to boot. But, as time goes by and we all got hit with the epidemic, businesses began to falter under the locked in place directive. Some businesses moved on and did their best to continue as much as possible and others, well they suffered to a closing business stand point. 1939 Dodge Sedan: Not too many of these on the road these days, but, this one was a good looking version. It could have been painted a flat black primer coat, or a polished version of the flat black, and/or the more modern car paint called "Frozen Black." At any guess, it was a nice looking Dodge hot rod sedan. I took this photo as I was driving by on my way to the surf break location. The place was bustling and I told my self that I would one day come back to take more photos of both cars. Jnaki Well, time flies fast, the pandemic hit with a fury and just about everything was closed to cope with the directive of trying to stop the spread. Then, during the fight against the spreading pandemic, some businesses took a big hit and had to close. It was a happy day, when we were allowed to go out of the house to run some errands, cautiously, get gas in our cars and check out some ocean views to calm our selves. But, some effects of the spread of the “pandemic blues” hit the community. Lots of businesses closed, including this hot rod/general repair shop, a ton of restaurants, and of course the 50s diner. When I was a kid I remember stepping in those when my mother was buying me shoes, my feet glowed in the dark for years,!!
Years ago I worked with a guy who told me that he and his brother got in trouble for trying to stuff their sister's head into one of those X-ray viewers to see what her brain looked like!!
