@jeepster Hello, Nice photo find of a Cadillac from 1960. Those were the years that we drove around and the friends’ dads with high stress jobs were driving around in the finned road huggers. They certainly left an impression when going down the road. The ride, not so much as it swayed around corners due to the heavy body and chassis. Even with new shocks, those old Cadillacs tended to overwork the heavy duty shocks/suspension of the time and riding in the back seat was not the most pleasurable experience. Cadillacs always have a way of giving good identification of any car or model. It is those “fins,” well known since the beginning of the stylish period into the “smooth round look like everyone else” in the GM line days. There was some distinction in those early 50s through the 1965 “gone with the wind” stage… 1958 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe DeVille Jnaki The flowing traffic and narrow streets, prevented me from stopping for some photos of the front and sides. But, when I got home, the tail shot was all Cadillac. So, about a week later, I had some business near the same old location and tried to go back for more cool photos of a blue Cadillac. To my dismay, the custom painted Blue Cadillac was gone. But the fins stood out in that short memory of a nice Blue/Aqua painted Cadillac.
The Carnegie Library on the campus of Pomona College, ca. 1928. A $40,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie was given to Claremont to build the library on the condition that the town raise an additional $40,000 in new endowment to cover building maintenance. The Classical Revival library was designed by Franklin P. Burnham and was built by Edwin Squire using reinforced concrete. Claremont donated the land and in return the library served both students and residents until a branch of the Los Angeles County Library opened in Claremont in 1914. The library served as Pomona College's academic library from 1908 until 1953, at which time a new library (Honnold/Mudd) opened to serve all of the Claremont Colleges.
